Crustacean Records is one of the midwest's largest independent record labels, and we've teamed up to produced a DVD showcasing bands currently on the label, along with a few stars from days gone by. The first filming will be at the High Noon Saloon on Friday, August 31st featuring Screamin' Cyn Cyn and the Pons, Ouija Radio, Things Fall Apart and more soon to be announced.

Danger Danger! [High Voltage]
3.03.07

Guess who is we are going to feature in May? No, not ELO - The Electric Six! The Six are best known for their sincerely humorous lyrics accompanied by hot disco beats. Your head just might explode during the show as you try to both giggle and dance at the same time. See us filming live on Thursday, May 3rd at the Annex in Madison. Also be sure to check out my favorite video 'Danger! [High Voltage]' and see if you can figure out what famous rocker is doing the part of the lovely lady! view

Mechanical March
3.03.07

Marking Cynergy 67's spring tour, this month will once again feature C67 live from the Mainstage in Milwaukee. C67 is an industrial band that has shared the stage with groups like Powerman 5000, Dead Star Assembly, and Orgy. Clips of this show may be previewed here. This show is also available on DVD for purchase here.

April 'Mash Up'
3.28.07

This month I'm changing up the madMusic format by featuring a mix of different acts and random music video clips. I also want to emphasize that although 99% of the content up until this point has been made by yours truly, I'm open to band submissions and suggestions for future episodes. I think this just may be the most interesting episode yet - best suited for you A.D.D. generation Xer's (like me). In one hour I crammed in two live singles by local rockers Jack, three songs by The Reputation (lead singer Elizabeth frequents sets with the band Hot Hot Heat), a music short created by venturing the streets of Toronto, Poutine Techno Remix, a claymation music video for The Presidents of the United States of America, the legendary Mrs. Scott King, a raunchy performance by The Black Lips, and a behind the beat interview with Ukrainian Break Dance Team These Guys. Dang!

MadMusic heads South (by Southwest)
2.19.07

I'm very happy to announce that in just a few weeks I'll be heading to Austin, TX for the renowned SXSW festival. This conference is the place where cutting edge designers, filmmaker visionaries and hot emerging musicians come together (or so the web site tells me). Anyhow, I'm heading down for some fun and a nice break from the cold. You can view more info about the festival here. Oh - Did I mention I'm looking for tickets? Ha ha - no, I'm serious. Anyone?

3.03.07
Well I've finally secured my tickets and I think now I can say it is official!

3.12.07
Awww yeah. Tonight I was at a party hosted at Austin City Limits! Forget the fact that I missed the tour on Friday, hell, I got to see if first hand and listen to some great music provided by the acoustic country twang opener Dennis Jay (originally from Racine Wisconsin) with a follow-up performance by power-pop rockers the Voxtrot. Voxtrot is an Austin band that just finished up a European tour and I'm looking at featuring some of their footage on an upcoming show - so keep 'yer eyes peeled. - Speaking of peel - the night before the band Peel played at the Frog Design Party Before Steve Ray Vaughn's band. Awesome. Anyhow, there should be some good stuff coming soon.

NO WIMPS ALLOWED!
On the road with Cynergy 67, Dead Star Assembly

2.25.07

After tagging along with Cynergy 67 and Dead Star Assembly for their Minnesota, Iowa leg of their spring tours, I have an incredible new found respect for bands that are willing to bring the show out on the road. I don't think I've really had a grasp of the phrase "for the love of music" from a band's perspective until I spend 20 some odd hours couped up in a mini-van on the way between venues. I documented my experience with my trusty video camera and will be adding it to the site shortly, so stay tuned.

MadMusic March !
2.11.07

If you haven't heard by now, the Mustard Plug show that was scheduled to take place February 2nd at the Memorial Union Rathskeller, here in Madison, had to be cancelled. Apparently an apocalyptic snowstorm prevented them getting to Madison. Though its not certain just yet, the show should be rescheduled for sometime in March. Yay!

Also in March we are hoping to feature the Rick's Cafe Benefit Show from late November at the High Noon Saloon. This should make for a great a la carte style show that will include Subvocal, El Clan Destino, Mike Droho, Butt Funnel, and The Selfish Gene; some of Madison's best bands many of which are MAMA's Award recipients.

Dirtbombs for V-Day (Current Episode)
2.10.07

Cuddle up this month with the Dirtbombs! This explosive Detroit band was recorded last April live at the High Noon Saloon. The Dirtbombs have received a great deal of recognition for their live shows; in September Spin magazine named them number 10 for "Top 25 Live Bands Now." And yes, they have two drummers as well as two bass players! See The Dirtbombs at 11pm Mondays this month and check it out for yourself.
Clips viewable here.

MadMusic with Mustard !
1.31.07

Great news! This Saturday at 9:30 pm, our crew will be at the Memorial Union Rathskeller in Madison filming ska/punk band Mustard Plug! Traveling all the way from exotic Grand Rapids, Michigan, Mustard Plug will dish out a hearty serving of upbeat, body-shaking ska. Put on your skankin' shoes and meet us there for this free show!

MadMusic January!
1.24.07

You have one more chance to catch the rock duo Local H this month! This special one and a half hour episode features Chicago's grunge rockers who hit it big in the 90's, best known for "Bound for the Floor" "High Fiving Mother..." and "All-right (Oh, Yeah). Still going strong after more than a decade, the band attracted a wildly energetic crowd at the High Noon Saloon here in Madison back in July. Clips viewable here.
